Cynical

Look at that word for a second.

Merriam-Webster root word: Cynic

Simple Definition:  a person who has negative opinions about other people and about the things people do; especially : a person who believes that people are selfish and are only interested in helping themselves

Just the other day I had a discussion about a person that passed away long ago.  I remember the guy making fun of me for my style (or lack of, lol).  I figure he may have done this to help me fit in.  To fit in to what he thought was the correct fit in society.

Yet society changes.  Shocker, I know!

How many people have you been in contact with that generally have a cynical attitude?  Is it your family member, best friend or someone you work with?  Maybe this person is so wrapped up in their lack of success.  That’s the thing I think I am seeing in most cynical people.  That they may have figured they could have led a better life.

Am I living in a cloud, in a bliss?  Am I high in the sky believing people are good hearted?  Maybe.

Ask yourself this though, what changes the world and who has the most impact?  People you don’t want to be around because they make your blood boil or a kind hearted soul that lifts you up?  Not only with praise and soft speech but depth of logic that is based in deep wisdom.

Decide how you’re going to lead.

I read this book a while back.  It is one of my favorite leadership books.  That’s because it deals with the one and only person you can actually lead.  That’s the guy or lady that you are.  Push aside the complaining and ask yourself the “Question behind the Question.”

How does this apply to you?
